Around the World: Easter Island

Easter Island (or Rapa Nui to the locals) is the remotest inhabited land in the world. Its claim to fame is the giant moai statues that were constructed in the fifteenth through seventeenth centuries by the Polynesian people who inhabited the island. We met with several archeologists who have dedicated their lives to understanding the mysteries of the island.

Photos on this page were taken with a Nikon D80 SLR camera.
